2013 Free Lakota Bank Overview

The 2013 Free Lakota Bank Silver Round represents the final regular-year issue of the Lakota Crazy Horse silver currency series. Issued by Free Lakota Bank as part of its precious-metals-based monetary system, the round was produced during the sixth and final year of the series, which began in 2008. The issue bears the AOCS Approved designation and the copyright attribution RJG, linking it directly to the American Open Currency Standard (AOCS) network. The series was retired in late 2013 and replaced by the Pine Ridge Silver community currency program.

2013 Free Lakota Bank Notes

Free Lakota Bank functioned as the issuer of the Lakota currency series and operated a commodity-banking system based on precious metals.

The Crazy Horse series was officially retired in November 2013 after a six-year run from 2008 through 2013.

Following retirement of the series, Free Lakota Bank authorized one more round in 2013:

  • 2013 Limited Edition (1,000) 2008–2013 Crazy Horse Commemorative

The 2013 issue represents the final standard annual issue before the transition to the Pine Ridge Silver community currency program.
