About the Articles Archive

Most sources on Texas numismatics stop at cataloging what a coin is — metal, weight, mint mark. This archive exists to answer the harder question: why the coin exists at all. These articles connect individual coins, mints, and collections to the historical events, organizations, and people that produced them, from Texas Sesquicentennial commemoratives to the private mints that built a decades-long industry around Texas-themed bullion.

Every article here is built the same way the rest of the site is — from primary sources rather than secondhand summaries: mint records, original packaging, period newspaper coverage, corporate filings, and, where possible, direct interviews with the founders, engravers, and distributors involved. That research also feeds directly back into the Coins and Mints archives — an article on a specific mint or program links out to every documented coin it produced, and vice versa.
