The 2009 John Galt AOCS Approved Silver Round is a privately issued .999 fine silver round promoting the principles of voluntary exchange, sound money, and Austrian economics inspired by Ayn Rand’s Atlas Shrugged. The obverse depicts John Galt with the Atlas figure supporting the globe, while the reverse bears the inscription “Money: The Root of All Good” together with the AOCS Approved acceptance mark. The round represents one of the earliest documented issues associated with the American Open Currency Standard (AOCS) movement and predates the later AOCS Mint-branded issues.

Archived websites show that the John Galt medallion was initially marketed through the LibreCoins website during 2009. By March 2010, the product had been rebranded under The American Open Currency Standard, and by June 2010 under the abbreviated AOCS identity.

Because the specimen documented here contains no LibreCoins branding and instead bears only the AOCS Approved acceptance mark, this catalog attributes the issue to the American Open Currency Standard while recognizing the existence of the earlier LibreCoins-marked variety.
