The 2016 Bitcoin Antiqued AOCS Approved Silver Round carries the same MJB-designed Bitcoin die as the 2016 Bitcoin Proof AOCS Approved Silver Round, struck instead with a deliberately aged, matte antique finish and limited to a mintage of 1,000 — a smaller run than the 2,500-piece proof version. The obverse depicts the Bitcoin symbol within a circuit-board field, struck with BITCOIN · DIGITAL · DECENTRALIZED · PEER TO PEER, AOCS APPROVED, and ONE OZ .999 FINE SILVER. The reverse continues the circuit motif around a chip inscribed MJB and 2016. The edge carries an individual serial number matching the accompanying Certificate of Authenticity.

As with the proof edition, the design traces to Michael “Mick” Bruce, credited with originating the concept in 2010 for the American Open Currency Standard.

The example examined for this entry arrived with a Certificate of Authenticity carrying the Heads Or Tales Coins & Collectibles (hotco.co) monogram — reading “2016 BITCOIN COMMEMORATIVE… ONE TROY OUNCE ANTIQUE SILVER… OFFICIALLY LICENSED ART,” individually serialed against the 1,000 mintage.

Physical striking is attributed to Osborne Coinage (Cincinnati, OH) on the strength of the proof edition’s dealer-documented manufacturer credit and shared-die consistency. One dealer listing for this antiqued edition instead states the rounds are “made by Heads or Tails Coin Company,” while a second listing for the same product credits the COA to “Osborne Mint” — despite that listing’s own photographed COA carrying the hotco.co monogram, not Osborne branding. Given that internal contradiction, the AOCS Mint/Osborne Coinage attribution — anchored to the struck legend and the proof edition’s cleaner sourcing — is treated as the more reliable value; the “Heads or Tales” manufacturer claim is noted rather than adopted.
