2006 Texas Silver Dollar

Texas Buffalo

Overview

The 2006 Texas Silver Dollar – Texas Buffalo was issued as part of the Texas Silver Dollar Collection, made by The Texas Mint & Mercantile, Whitney TX, continuing the annual program that highlighted Texas heritage through modern private-mint silver rounds. The 2006 design features a buffalo motif, reflecting frontier symbolism deeply associated with Texas history and the American West. The reverse continues the standardized Texas Dollar Lone Star design format used throughout the series.

Story of the Texas Buffalo

“2006 Texas Buffalo Silver Dollar, for thousands of years the shaggy buffalo ranged the Texas plains and forests. Millions of these great and noble beasts gave food, clothing, and tools to the inhabitants of our great state – they still do. Our 2006 Texas silver dollars remind us of the comeback of the buffalo and the beauty of one of Texas’ greatest treasures.” – Rick Pinner
