Hats off to the Women of Texas!
Overview
The 2004 Texas Silver Dollar – Hats Off to the Women of Texas was issued as part of the Texas Silver Dollar Collection by the Texas Mint & Mercantile, Whitney TX, continuing the annual program highlighting Texas heritage through modern private-mint silver rounds. The 2004 design honors the contributions of Texas women, reflecting a thematic departure from the frontier-focused motifs seen in other years of the series. The reverse continues the standardized Texas Dollar format incorporating the Lone Star motif and recurring heart design element.
Story of Hats off to the Women of Texas
“The 2004 Texas Silver Dollar, Our 2004 Texas Silver Dollar is our hats off to the women of the wild west, Texas in particular. These feminine creatures that endured the pioneer days on the ranches, in the rodeos and even the homes of early Texas carried a strength of character and endurance unknown to the city girls back east. Ropin’, ridin’ and just dealing with independent cowboys these gals’ youthful spirit and stamina were an inspiring contribution to the settlement of this great state.” – Rick Pinner
