1980 Dor-Tex Corp. Overview
The 1980 Dor-Tex Corp. Silver Trade Unit is a privately issued one-ounce silver round believed to have been produced during the early 1980s. The round was issued by Dor-Tex Corp., a Texas corporation incorporated in 1977 and originally headquartered in Dallas, Texas.
The piece is notable for its reverse, which shares a distinctive scales design with later Don Casey Company, Silvex Silver Systems, and Texas Mint trade units. The absence of the “Texas Mint” inscription found on later examples suggests the Dor-Tex issue may represent an earlier state of the design.
