Chicagoland Processing Corporation / Environment (Mount Prospect, IL)

Overview

Chicagoland Processing Corporation (CPC) was a Chicago-area promotional products and premium marketing company that became one of the most significant producers of licensed sports commemorative medallions in the United States during the late 1980s and 1990s. In 1992, CPC established Enviromint as its dedicated medallion and commemorative coin division, bringing production in-house at its facility in Mount Prospect, Illinois.

The Enviromint program operated under official licenses from Major League Baseball (MLB), the National Football League (NFL), the National Basketball Association (NBA), and the National Hockey League (NHL), producing championship commemorative rounds for each league’s title winners annually. Throughout its existence, Enviromint produced the official flip coin used in the Rose Bowl game, championship medallions for the Super Bowl, World Series, Stanley Cup, and NBA Finals, and a broad catalog of player and team commemoratives. The company ceased production circa 2000.

Notable Programs

NFL Championship Medallions Enviromint produced official silver championship rounds for each Super Bowl winning team. A contemporaneous 1994 press report confirmed a 25,000-piece silver mintage for Dallas Cowboys championship medallions, with additional 24-karat select (500 pieces) and pure gold (194 pieces) variants. Super Bowl programs included sets covering division, conference, and championship rounds.

Rose Bowl Flip Coins Enviromint produced the official flip coin used in the Rose Bowl game, representing one of the more unusual officiating-use applications of a private commemorative producer.

Player Commemoratives Licensed player rounds were produced for prominent athletes across all four major leagues, often in limited numbered editions with certificates of authenticity.

Identification Markers

Enviromint-issued rounds of the early 1990s typically:

  • Carry TM or © NFLP / MLBP licensing marks rather than a manufacturer hallmark
  • May carry an ©Enviromint inscription on later issues (post-1992 consistent branding)
  • Are serialized on a smooth panel of the reeded edge on limited-edition issues
  • Were sold in plastic capsules with a printed certificate of authenticity

Attribution of early issues without packaging relies on documentary evidence, stylistic consistency with confirmed Enviromint products, and contemporaneous press and secondary-market records.
